Role Overview
As a Pharmacy Sales Assistant, you are the first point of contact for customers seeking health and wellness products. Your goal is to ensure the “front-shop” (non-prescription area) runs smoothly by managing stock, assisting customers with product recommendations, and processing transactions accurately.
Key Objectives
- Sales & Consultation: Identify customer needs and suggest appropriate over-the-counter health and beauty products.
- Point of Sale (POS): Process payments using the store system, including cash, cards, medical aid vouchers, and coupons.
- Inventory Management: Restock shelves, organize the sales floor according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and conduct regular price audits to fix discrepancies.
- Loss Prevention: Monitor customer activity to prevent shoplifting and ensure the security of high-value pharmacy items.
- Visual Standards: Maintain high levels of housekeeping and visual merchandising to ensure the pharmacy looks professional and inviting.
- Compliance: Handle sales and receipts according to strict company procedures and balance the till at the end of every shift.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 qualification (Essential).
- Experience: At least 5 months of till point/POS experience in a retail environment.
- Sales Track Record: Proven experience in a retail sales role.
- Language: Bilingualism is essential (preferably fluent in Afrikaans and English) to assist the local Moreleta community.
Knowledge & Skills
- Customer Service: Solid understanding of customer service principles and a friendly, engaging personality.
- Financial Literacy: Knowledgeable in handling various payment types and balancing receipts.
- Operational Knowledge: Familiarity with stock-receiving procedures and merchandising standards.
- Tech Savvy: Basic computer literacy is required for the POS and inventory systems.
- Detail-Oriented: Ability to spot small errors in pricing or stock placement in a fast-paced environment.
