Role Overview
As the “face” of the branch, your role goes beyond just scanning items. You are responsible for the final stage of the customer journey, ensuring that every purchase is processed accurately while maintaining the professional image of the BUCO brand. In a hardware environment, this often involves identifying various building materials and ensuring quantities match the customer’s order.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Interaction: Greet every customer professionally and act as a point of contact for public relations within the store.
- Transaction Processing: Ring up purchases accurately and accept various forms of payment (cash, card, account).
- Financial Accuracy: Issue accurate receipts and perform “till balancing” to ensure all physical cash and digital payments match the system records at the end of a shift.
- Brand Ambassadorship: Uphold and promote company values and culture through helpful and polite service.
- Store Knowledge: Maintain basic knowledge of building materials to assist customers and ensure the correct items are billed.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric).
- Language: Must be proficient in English.
- Availability: Must be able to work standard retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Skills: Basic computer literacy is required.
- Attributes: Must be consistently helpful, polite, and customer-oriented.
Preferred Advantages
- Experience: 2–3 years of experience as a cashier is highly advantageous.
- Product Knowledge: Previous experience or knowledge of building materials and hardware will give you a significant edge during the interview process.
