Role Overview

The Stock Controller is the “brain” of the warehouse floor. Your primary mission is to ensure optimum stock levels—meaning the warehouse never has too much of one item (wasted space) or too little (stock-outs). You are responsible for driving compliance with safety regulations and ensuring that the bi-yearly stock takes are accurate and seamless.


Key Objectives

  • Inventory Accuracy: Maintain daily cycle counts and investigate any discrepancies immediately.
  • Warehouse Flow: Manage storage capacity and ensure the FIFO (First-In-First-Out) system is strictly followed to prevent pharmaceutical products from expiring.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all staff follow Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and “Good Warehouse Practice” (GWP) principles.
  • Stock Take Leadership: Implement bi-yearly stock takes and handle all preparation to ensure counts are fast and accurate.
  • Productivity: Work closely with Supervisors to ensure instructions are carried out and staff remain productive.
  • System Integrity: Monitor “Stock on Hold” and ensure inventory moves through the system without delays.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 qualification (Matric).
  • Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution environment is a significant advantage.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Warehouse Operating Systems (WMS) and general logistics principles.

Essential Skills

  • Attention to Detail: High precision is required to manage pharmaceutical inventory where batch numbers and expiry dates are critical.
  • Communication: Sound verbal and written skills for reporting to departmental heads.
  • Tech Literacy: Proficiency in computers is mandatory for managing inventory data.
  • Leadership: Good interpersonal skills to drive staff compliance and meet tight deadlines.
