Company Profile: Clicks Group
The Clicks Group is a leader in the healthcare and beauty market, with a history spanning over 50 years. Clicks is famous for its ClubCard loyalty program (one of SA’s largest) and its integration of professional pharmacy services within a retail environment. The brand is built on value, convenience, and a high-performance culture.
2. Job Objectives: The Core Pillars
Your success in this role is measured across four main areas:
- Financial Performance: You don’t just “watch” sales; you drive them. You must manage the P&L (Profit and Loss), monitor financial ratios, and adjust stock levels to maximize margin and minimize expenses.
- Operational Excellence: This includes “shrinkage” (theft/loss) control, hygiene, and strict administrative compliance.
- Human Capital: Leading a diverse team of retail staff, pharmacists, and nurses. You are responsible for scheduling labor hours and handling IR (Industrial Relations/Disciplinary) issues.
- Brand Integrity: Ensuring the store looks “Clicks Ready”—perfect visual merchandising and 100% adherence to national promotional campaigns.
3. Key Knowledge & Skills Required
To pass the screening on applyretail.co.za, your profile must highlight:
- Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of budgets, gross profit, and operational costs.
- Legislative Knowledge: You must know South African Labor Law (BCEA, LRA) to manage staff and IR effectively.
- Merchandising Principles: Knowledge of “planograms” (visual layouts) and how to use them to increase “basket size.”
- Analytical Competency: The ability to look at a sales report and identify exactly why a specific department is underperforming.
4. Work Etiquette: Senior Leadership Standards
- Cohesion & Integration: One of your toughest tasks is bridging the gap between the retail floor and the pharmacy team. You must lead with a “One Team” mindset.
- Stakeholder Management: You will represent Clicks when dealing with Mall Managers, suppliers, and Distribution Centers (DCs).
- Entrepreneurial Thinking: You are expected to treat the De Doorns store as your own business—watching local competitors and adapting to local customer trends.
