Role Purpose
Provide exceptional, friendly customer service at Dis-Chem Baby City Westrand while maintaining shelf stock levels, managing POS transaction payments, supporting promotional setups, and upholding high visual merchandising standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Service & Sales Execution
- Customer Care: Build professional relationships with shoppers, providing friendly assistance, answering product queries, and handling feedback.
- Point of Sale (POS): Process cash, card, voucher, coupon, and loyalty card transactions accurately while following strict cash controls.
2. Stock Control & Shelf Management
- Stock Replenishment: Unpack stock, flatten boxes, replenish shelves, and ensure full product ranges are neatly displayed.
- Inventory Checks: Monitor stock levels, assist with stock counts, check sell-by/expiry dates, and report damaged or expired stock.
3. Merchandising & Promotional Setup
- Promotions Execution: Build promotional displays, put up promotional signage/price tickets timeously, and take down expired promo materials promptly.
- Pricing Accuracy: Verify product labels and pricing, reporting discrepancies immediately to store management.
Minimum Requirements & Competencies
- Education: Grade 12 / Matric (A Certification in Retail Business Management is advantageous).
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of total work experience within retail (with up to 6 months of direct sales assistant/cashier experience).
- Skills: Proficient in English, basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook), strong numerical skills, and knowledge of retail operations.
- Special Conditions: Must be a South African citizen, have a clear credit and criminal record, and be willing to work retail shift hours.
