The Role: Why it Matters
At Mambo’s, the GRV Clerk ensures that every item entering the building is accounted for. You are responsible for the “paper trail” of the store’s physical products. When a delivery truck arrives, you are the person who verifies that what was ordered is exactly what was delivered.
Key Responsibilities
- Stock Verification: Receive incoming stock and physically check items against delivery notes and invoices to ensure no items are missing or damaged.
- Data Capture: Accurately capture Goods Received Vouchers (GRVs) into the store’s computer system to update live inventory levels.
- Merchandise Preparation: Handle the barcoding and labeling of new stock and ensure it is organized for the floor team.
- Inventory Accuracy: Maintain precise records and assist during full store stock takes to identify and investigate any “shrinkage” or discrepancies.
- Operational Support: Provide general administrative assistance to the management team regarding stock control and flow.
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric).
- Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy is required (Experience with Excel or retail stock systems is a major advantage).
- Core Competencies: Extreme attention to detail—missing one digit on an invoice can cause major stock errors.
- Work Ethic: Ability to work under pressure, especially during high-volume delivery days (e.g., month-end or festive seasons).
- Experience: Previous retail or stock control experience is a plus but not strictly required for the right candidate.
