The Role: The Gatekeeper of Credit
As a New Accounts Agent, your primary mission is to verify the accuracy and legitimacy of store card applications. You act as the bridge between a customer’s desire to shop and the company’s need to manage financial risk. You will handle everything from telephonic employment verifications to reviewing financial documents, ensuring every new account complies with South African law.
Key Responsibilities
- Verification & Validation: Telephonically confirm employment and personal details to verify the information provided on store card applications.
- Database Management: Update customer details on the Debtor’s systems to ensure the group maintains an accurate and clean database.
- Credit Growth: Process applications across all divisions (Mr Price, Mr Price Sport, Mr Price Home) to expand the credit base.
- Financial Assessment: Review and assess payslips, bank statements, and other financial documents to support account approval decisions.
- Customer Guidance: Communicate with applicants to request missing documentation and guide them through the final stages of their application.
- Backlog Management: Ensure all queries and correspondence are actioned quickly to prevent delays and maintain high service standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric).
- Experience: At least 1 year of call centre experience specifically supporting account setup, verification, or issue resolution.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
- Legal Compliance: A solid understanding of South African industry legislation is mandatory:
- National Credit Act (NCA): Understanding responsible lending.
- POPI Act: Ensuring the protection of personal customer data.
- Consumer Protection Act (CPA): Understanding customer rights.
- Analytical Skills: The ability to assess financial documents and identify patterns or potential fraud.
- Communication: Clear verbal communication to handle both inbound inquiries and outbound verification calls.
- Accuracy: Extreme attention to detail during the data capture and account setup process.
