As a Dis-Chem Cashier, you are the final touchpoint of the customer journey. Your core mandate is to process transactions swiftly and accurately on the Dis-Chem operating system. You are entirely responsible for the security of your point-of-sale (POS) station, ensuring that every item (including pharmaceutical scripts) is scanned, all loyalty partner benefits are processed, and cash is dropped securely according to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Key Responsibilities
1. Point of Sale (POS) & Loyalty Transacting
- Payment Processing: Receive and process multiple payment methods smoothly, including cash, debit/credit cards, medical aid vouchers, coupons, and gift cards.
- Loyalty Ecosystem Integration: Accurately swipe and process Dis-Chem benefit cards alongside high-value accelerator partner programs (Discovery Vitality/Health, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and FNB eBucks).
- Authorized Variances: Ensure all line voids, item returns, merchandise exchanges, and manual price changes are explicitly approved and signed off by a Frontline Supervisor before processing.
2. Cash Security & Risk Mitigation
- Strict Drawer Governance: Take absolute personal accountability for your cash drawer. Keep your personalized login codes/passwords secret, change them regularly, and ensure money is locked securely inside the till at all times.
