Job Description: Storeman
The Storeman is responsible for the physical and administrative integrity of the warehouse stock. Your primary goal is to ensure that what is recorded on the computer system matches exactly what is on the shelves. This involves a cycle of receiving, counting, investigating discrepancies, and dispatching goods with 100% accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Control: Manage day-to-day physical stock control and maintain accurate inventory records and reports.
- Receiving & Dispatch: Accurately receive, count, and dispatch inventory items.
- Stock Auditing: Perform regular cycle counts and assist with comprehensive full stock takes.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Investigate why stock levels might be incorrect and resolve those discrepancies.
- Internal Logistics: Reconcile inter-branch transfers to ensure stock moving between locations is tracked correctly.
- Warehouse Upkeep: Ensure all warehouse areas remain organized, clean, and secure to prevent damage or loss.
Requirements & Experience
- Education: A Matric (Grade 12) certificate is essential.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a Storeman or Stock Controller role.
- Specialized Experience: 1–3 years of experience specifically in cycle counting.
- Technical Skills: Computer literacy is required; experience with SAP (System Applications and Products) is a major advantage.
- Personal Attributes: Strong attention to detail, excellent numeracy skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
