Role Overview: The Beauty and Skincare Consultant

At The Body Shop, you are not just a cashier or a shelf-packer; you are a brand storyteller. Customers visiting the Mall of Africa branch expect deep product knowledge regarding skincare routines, body care, and ethically sourced ingredients (such as Community Fair Trade tea tree oil, shea butter, or hemp). Your goal is to transform standard foot traffic into loyal, repeat customers through immersive product demonstrations, cross-selling, and up-selling.


Key Job Objectives

1. Consultative Sales & Profitability

  • Active Cross-Selling & Up-Selling: Match customers with complete beauty regimes (e.g., suggesting a specific facial toner and moisturizer to go with their chosen cleanser) to maximize daily store turnover.
  • Brand Loyalty: Educate shoppers on the brand’s ethical values and loyalty programs to drive customer retention and increase store profitability.
  • Promotional Execution: Take full ownership of setting up and executing seasonal marketing campaigns, product launches, and in-store sensory events.

2. Store Environment & Visuals

  • Experiential Merchandising: Maintain an immaculate, highly inviting, and sensory-rich shopping environment where customers feel comfortable testing creams, body butters, and fragrances.
  • Stock Management: Keep shelves perfectly stocked, accurately ticketed, and neatly rotated according to retail display standards.

3. Risk & Loss Prevention

  • Shrinkage Control: Reduce stock loss and operational variances by strictly adhering to the Clicks Group’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Asset Protection: Keep a sharp eye on high-value items on the floor to prevent shoplifting without compromising the welcoming customer experience.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Grade 12 / Matric is essential.
  • Industry Domain: Direct, hands-on experience in cosmetics, beauty, or specialized skincare is a mandatory prerequisite.
  • Retail Background: Previous experience working within a fast-paced retail sales or service environment is highly desirable.

Skills & Core Knowledge

  • Strong foundational understanding of retail sales principles, targets, and inventory cycles.
  • Advanced interpersonal communication and active listening skills to diagnose specific skin or body care concerns accurately.
  • Natural ability to apply modern, needs-based selling techniques smoothly.
  • Basic computer literacy to navigate point-of-sale (POS) systems and digital stock registries.
