Role Overview
The primary goal is to exceed customer expectations by using professional selling techniques and providing expert advice on outdoor gear and clothing. You are responsible for driving turnover, maintaining visual standards, and ensuring all financial transactions are handled with absolute honesty.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales & Service: Practice advanced selling techniques to meet individual targets and increase store turnover.
- Customer Engagement: Provide friendly, helpful assistance and resolve all stock-related queries or complaints.
- Point of Sale: Receive and process all payment types (cash, cards, vouchers) and manage loyalty card programs.
- Store Standards: Uphold visual merchandising and housekeeping standards to optimize the shopping environment.
- Risk Control: Strictly adhere to stock loss controls and ensure all outgoing items are correctly scanned and paid for.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Matric or Equivalent.
- Experience: Up to 6 months of retail experience (1 year is considered advantageous).
- Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
- Clearances: Must have a clear credit and criminal record.
- Availability: Willing and able to work standard retail hours.
Skills & Behavioural Attributes
- Technical: Microsoft Office/Computer proficiency is an advantage.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with current clothing trends or an outdoor lifestyle is highly beneficial.
- Soft Skills: Strong time management, adaptability, and the ability to take ownership of problems.
- Integrity: High level of honesty when dealing with cash and financial transactions.
