Role Overview: Technical Retail Checkout & Customer Service
As the Cashier at Communica Samrand, you serve as the final point of contact for technical customers purchasing components, test equipment, and tools. You will process multi-channel payments, handle POS operations, generate basic sales reports, and ensure an accurate, efficient checkout experience.
Key Performance Areas
1. POS Transactions & Cash Controls
- Payment Processing: Accurately process cash, credit/debit cards, and electronic payments on the Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Till Accuracy: Maintain strong numerical accuracy to minimize till variances (“shorts and overs”) during shift balancing.
- System Administration: Generate daily sales reports and handle basic computer tasks related to transaction processing.
2. Customer Engagement & Product Awareness
- Service Excellence: Deliver clear, friendly, and professional communication to maintain a smooth checkout flow.
- Electronics Familiarity: Maintain basic knowledge of Communica’s electronics range, component lines, and active store promotions to assist shoppers at the register.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Grade 12 / Matric (a certificate in retail or customer service is a plus).
- Experience: 1 to 2 years of cash-handling and POS system experience in a retail environment (preferably within electronics or hardware).
- Technical & Soft Skills: Basic computer literacy, strong numerical skills, high attention to detail, and great customer communication.
- Location: Must be able to reliably commute to the Samrand, Gauteng branch.
