Job Description: Assistant Store Manager
Your primary purpose is to maintain the store’s “Golden Standards” in the Store Manager’s absence. You act as the bridge between the staff on the floor and the administrative requirements of the head office. You are accountable for ensuring the store remains profitable, safe, and productive.
3. Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Relieve the Store Manager and maintain standards for housekeeping, merchandising, and security.
- Financial & Admin Control: Oversee the cash office, manage the banking of money, and ensure front-end controls are strictly followed.
- Stock & Risk Management: Minimize stock loss (shrinkage) and ensure compliance with all company security procedures.
- Team Management: Assist in managing, disciplining, and motivating staff to maintain productivity.
- Sales Growth: Introduce sales initiatives to ensure the store reaches its financial targets.
- Customer Experience: Oversee customer service standards to ensure a positive shopping environment.
4. Required Qualifications & Skills

- Education: Matric/Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 (Mathematics is considered an advantage).
- Experience: Previous experience in managing people and overseeing a specific department.
- Industry Knowledge: Previous clothing retail experience is highly advantageous for understanding garment merchandising.
- Core Competencies: Strong administrative, planning, and organizational skills.
