Junior Data Analyst | Roman’s Pizza (Centurion Head Office)

Location: Centurion, Gauteng Posted: May 2026 Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Equity Status: Open (EE/AA, Non-EE/AA, and Disabled candidates welcome)

The Reality of the Role: QSR Data Engineering & Insights

In a high-volume food franchise business, raw numbers dictate everything from dough-ingredient supply chains to localized marketing spend and seasonal menu adjustments. As a Junior Data Analyst, your job is to clean up messy transactional data from point-of-sale systems, build automated workflows that eliminate manual human data entry, and design live executive dashboards that reveal underperforming stores or trending menu combinations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Workflow Automation & Integration

  • n8n Orchestration: Assist in building, monitoring, and debugging automated node-based workflows using n8n to sync data smoothly between marketing systems, operational logs, and financial ledgers.
  • Process Streamlining: Proactively identify repetitive tasks across internal departments and build webhooks or automated triggers to make business operations more efficient.

2. Data Modeling & Infrastructure

  • Fabric & SQL Management: Query, filter, and structure raw data housed inside Microsoft Fabric and SQL Server relational databases.
  • Metric Definition: Support senior data engineers in creating and maintaining unified data models, ensuring core business KPIs (like Average Basket Value, Food Cost Variances, and Store Growth) are calculated consistently across the brand.

3. Data Visualization & Dashboarding

  • Power BI & DAX: Design, build, and publish interactive, easy-to-read dashboards. You will write functional DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) queries to create dynamic time-intelligence calculations and performance comparisons.
  • Visual Standards: Ensure report layouts present data logically, allowing regional operational managers to spot sales trends instantly.

4. Statistical Analysis & Strategy

  • Economic Modeling: Apply statistical and economic frameworks to evaluate real-world franchise hurdles (e.g., measuring the impact of inflation on cheese prices versus local customer purchasing power).
  • Actionable Insight: Translate cold data plots into direct, plain-English operational recommendations for the executive team.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

Education

  • Essential: A recently completed University Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative/analytical field.

Technical Skills & Stack

  • SQL: Solid foundational knowledge (writing clean SELECT queries, JOIN clauses, and aggregate functions like GROUP BY).
  • Power BI: Direct hands-on experience building reports. Functional knowledge of writing DAX syntax is a significant competitive advantage.
  • Methodological Base: A strong, academic grasp of core statistical concepts (regression, variance, data distributions)—knowing why a curve is moving, not just how to draw it.

Soft Skills

  • Data Translation: Exceptional communication skills to confidently present complex analytical insights to non-technical franchise owners and department heads.
  • Logical Aptitude: A healthy balance of structured logical reasoning and creative out-of-the-box thinking.
