Store Assistant (Permanent Part-Time) | adidas (Worldwear)
Location: Worldwear Shopping Centre, Beyers Naudé Dr, Johannesburg Job Type: Permanent Part-Time Experience Level: Entry Level (0–1 years experience)
The Role: Elevating the Consumer Experience
At adidas, the sales floor is a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Your primary focus is to deliver “three-stripe” customer service. This means greeting customers, matching them with the right technical footwear or apparel, and leveraging modern digital tools to track store targets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Sales & Floor Engagement
- Customer Consultations: Greet shoppers and guide them to the right products. You will often act as the dedicated front-door Greeter during high-traffic weekends.
- Upselling & Technical Pitching: Use advanced selling techniques (like add-on sales) and describe technical product information (e.g., explaining the benefits of Boost cushioning, Ultraboost architecture, or Aeroready moisture-wicking fabrics) to close sales.
2. Modern Retail Operations & Tech
- POS Proficiency: Master the point-of-sale (POS) system for fast, accurate cash, credit, and digital transactions.
- Data Literacy (Power BI): Learn to use Power BI dashboards to understand how the store is performing, tracking top-selling lines versus “blackhole products” (slow-moving inventory that needs shifting).
- Continuous Learning: Participate in mandatory digital and in-store training platforms (such as Atticus and AREA) to sharpen your product knowledge and retail skills.
3. Stock Flow & Visual Merchandising
- Stockroom to Floor: Assist in the continuous flow of fresh stock from the backroom to the floor to keep size curves filled.
- Visual Standards: Build and maintain eye-catching product displays based on official corporate guidelines and management schedules.
- Inventory Admin: Handle indirect ticketing of products and verify delivery paperwork against incoming physical stock.
4. Risk Management & Housekeeping
- Loss Prevention: Maintain absolute asset safekeeping and follow strict security protocols (including SLAP procedures) to spot and report suspicious behavior.
- Store Hygiene: Keep the floor immaculate through regular cleaning and strict housekeeping practices.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Matric Certificate.
- Experience: 0 to 1 year of retail experience. Previous fashion or sportswear retail experience is highly regarded but not compulsory.
- Availability: Total flexibility to work dynamic hours, including weekdays, late-night trading shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Tech Aptitude: Comfort learning new retail software, digital learning platforms, and analytics applications.
Essential Attributes
- The Brand Passion: An absolute love for sportswear, street culture, fashion, and creating complete styled looks for customers.
- Team Spirit: High enthusiasm and a drive to collaborate with the team to hit daily store turnover goals.
- Resilience: The ability to keep an upbeat attitude and pivot quickly between different tasks in a crowded factory outlet setting.
