A lot of people in South Africa want to work in retail. They do not have any experience. The good thing is that you can still make a CV that will make employers want to hire you.
What Do Retail Employers Want to See
People who are in charge of stores want to see that you have skills like
* being good at helping customers
* being able to talk to people
* being someone they can count on
* being able to work with others
* being honest
Even if you do not have any experience you can still say that you have skills that can be used in jobs.
How to Make a Retail CV
1. Your Personal Details
* your name
* your phone number
* your email address
* where you live
2. A Short Summary of You
For example:
I am a person who’s excited to work in retail. I am someone you can count on. I am good at talking to people. I am happy to learn new things. I can work at shift hours.
Keep this part short and easy to understand.
3. Your Education
Make a list of:
* what school you finished
* the name of your school
* when you finished school
If you took any courses you should include them too.
4. What You Are Good At
Even if you do not have any experience you should include:
* being good with customers
* knowing how to use a computer
* being good at talking to people
* being able to manage your time
* being able to work when things are busy
5. Any Experience You Have
If you do not have any work experience you can include:
* volunteering
* being a leader at school
* helping with a family business
* doing work in your community
These things show that you are responsible.
Make It Easy to Read
* only one or two pages
* make it look nice and easy to read
* do not make any spelling mistakes
* use an email address that looks professional
Do not include things that are not important.
If you make a clean and easy to read CV you will have a chance of being called for a job interview, at a retail store.
